Launching our new video art and live visuals sessions: Vision Ensembles (ages 13-17)

Get creative with our new visual art sessions for ages 13-17

Do you get mesmerised by animated images at events you’ve been to or seen on TV? Or are you excited by the idea of making video art and want to learn some techniques? Our exciting new Vision Ensembles could open a vibrant new world where art and technology combine to bring your ideas to life.

For our new free sessions for ages 13-17, we’re excited to team up with Jess Pemberton. She’ll be showing attendees how to use free software called Touch Designer to make visions a video-based reality. In her own work as an artist and live visuals creator for clubnight ESC, she uses that software to make incredible visuals that warp, melt, shape-shift, or blend together in strange new ways – resulting in experiences that wow audiences. In our sessions, Jess will be sharing knowledge about how she does that. This will include brainstorming creative ideas, using Touch Designer to create the live visuals, and controlling those visuals with mixers and Xbox controllers.

As the sessions will be part of our wider Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra, Jess will also be encouraging attendees to work alongside our electronic music ensembles to create visuals for a summer concert – those visuals will even react to the music!

If you’re interested in taking part in the Vision Ensemble, click here to find out how to book. Sessions for our spring/summer 2025 season will take place every Wednesday at AMATA, Falmouth University, Penryn Campus (two sessions will take place offsite).

Jess Pemberton has shown work around the world, including in London and Barcelona as part of the Immensiva Residency, Brooklyn Gallery in the US, and locally at Falmouth Art Gallery. Below is an interview with Jess about her work with Arebyte Gallery.
